First edition. 8vo. Original dark green cloth, titles stamped in gold gilt on the spine, brown endpapers, 443 pp. plus 5 pages of advertising, introductory, large folding map, appendix, index. Considered the classic of its field, this book provides, entirely in prose form, how to speak the language entirely through sign language, without one diagram provided. The map of Indian Reservations bound into the front is in very good servicable condition. Evidence of bookplate removal from the front and rear pastedown sheets, and rear flyleaf, library numbers at foot of spine, and faint partial embossed stamp to lower portion of the title page, else a solid, clean, very good copy of a very scarce book on the subject of Indian sign language.
