First edition. 9 1/2" x 5 1/8" in olive pictorial wrappers, tied at spine with cording. [32]pp. Illustrations. Map. Booklet celebrating the 1917 opening of the L. H. Jenkins, Inc. Company's bookbindery on Broad Street in Richmond, Virginia. "We do nothing but manufacture books in editions, - no blank books, job binding, or small commercial printing. This story tells you how and where we do it...... So this 'House Between' is being made use of by Publishers all over the country, as well as by Printers who haven't the binding facilities that we have. Out business is not with the general public." Booklet offers a thorough description of how their business works and what they are able to provide as a publisher. Photos include the factory, views of the press room, folding machines, the women's department and their sewing machines, the men's department case-making machines, individuals gilding edges of books, the stamping department, delivery department, bird's eye view of Richmond, etc. Also includes unaddressed, but opened, original mailing envelope as well as a 3 1/4" x 5 1/2" postcard to be filled out and returned to L.H. Jenkins, Inc., acknowledging receipt of above booklet and requesting further information. Mailing envelope split at both short ends (probably slit open to remove contents) and with chip to corner of one corner. Postcard is fine. booklet with tiny chip missing to bottom corner of wrappers and with light wear to the extremities. Very good. A very interesting and nicely produced item.
