Publication: Geo R H Buffinton, Publisher, 1893, Fall River
First edition. 8vo. Cloth, gold stamping on front cover and spine, [2], 312 pp., preface, illustrated, plates, portraits. This copy was used by Robert A. Flynn for the facsimile edition he published in 1985, and he has written this fact on a rear endpaper. The author was a police reporter for the Fall River Daily Globe. A scarce book that Lizzie Borden allegedly tried to buy up and destroy. Howes P482 says "The perfect crime, committed by a girl; all the world believed her guilty, but it couldn't be proved." Laid-in is a "Book Binding Slip" from the bookbinder Robert A. Flynn used to have some restoration work done on this book. Front and rear endpapers professionally replaced, and some cosmetic touch-up to the cloth, else a very good, tight copy of a very scarce book.
