First edition. Quarto. Two-tone decorated cloth, longhorn steer heads on endpapers, xviii, 289 pp., foreword, acknowledgments, map, illustrated, index. The author spent a lifetime in the cattle business that qualifies him as an authority on the subject, and he has two other talents not ususually associated with a cowboy; he can write well and he can illustrate what he has written with exactness in his pen sketches. There are over 600 of sketches of which more than 500 of them are specific instructions of "how to" tie a knot, saddle a horse, etc. An indispensable manual for the green hand, dude wrangler, or armchair bronc-buster. A desirable work. One of the best books on cowboys but it has never received the attention it deserves. Former owner's name stamp and address at top of front fly leaf, else fine in dust jacket with minor wear to head of spine and top front edges.
