Publication: Frederick Fell, Inc, Publishers, 1953, New York
First edition. 8vo. Author's first book. Cloth, gold stamping on front cover and spine, introduction, illustrated, plates, portraits, appendix, index. A detailed biography of Jesse James, covering his early life, service with Confederate guerrillas during the American Civil War, his robberies, the activities of the James Younger Gang, and his death. It also includes material on Frank James and the Younger Brothers. Six Guns 264 disapproves of the book largely due to the misspelling of names and for stating that Quantrill had an older brother who was killed in Kansas. On the other hand, Homer Croy, who wrote the introduction, has high praise for the book. Well illustrated with historical photographs. Fine in fine price-clipped dust jacket with light wear to foot of spine and bottom edge.
