Publication: Pioneer Press Company, 1888, St Paul

First edition, second printing. Originally published in 1883. 8vo. Green cloth, titles stamped in gilt on the front cover and spine, all edges red, brown front and rear endpapers, [4], 245 [1] pp., illustrated, plates, portraits, map. Map is a foldout and is bound-in at the rear of the volume. Covers Custer and the Battle of the Little Big Horn, Indian wars, Dull Knife, Crazy Horse, the Nez Perce war, etc. Luther 139 says, "... contains a fair review of the battle [Little Big Horn}, but is more of interest for its review of conditions in the region inhabited by the hostiles at that time." Folding map has a few tape repairs on one panel of the verso, front and rear hinges just starting to show signs of wear, and light wear to spine ends and corners, else a very good copy.
