Photoplay edition issued to coincide with the release of the Paramount film starring William Powell, Louise Brooks, and Jean Arthur. Fine bright copy in dust jacket with light wear to the spine ends and small nicks chips and tears to the extremities. The front panel of the dust jacket reproduces the art work of the first edition and the rear panel is a charming colorful painting of the dapper Powell as detective Philo Vance. A beautiful showgirl, name "the Canary" is a scheming nightclub singer. Blackmailing is her game and with that she ends up dead. But who killed "the Canary". All the suspects knew and were used by her and everyone had a motive to see her dead. Philo Vance investigates.
