Haley carefully analyzes the causes of the Indian unrest, centering upon the great buffalo slaughter which threatened to destroy forever the foundation of Indian life. In 1874, a huge war party of Comanche, Kiowa, and Cheyenne Indians attacked a settlement of buffalo hunters in the Texas panhandle, touching off the last war on the South Plains. Very good in dust jacket with minor nicks to the extremities and a closed tear to the top edge of the front cover.
