The first section addresses the basic principles of breeding, followed by a 124 page section on Horses illustrated with 38 plates. Next is a 224 page section on Cattle illustrated with 83 plates, followed by a 26 page section on Sheep and a 29 page section on Swine, both sections illustrated with 6 plates. An interesting study and presentation. Most of the illustrations indicate an origination by The Breeder's Gazette, of which the author is the editor. Minor sunning to the spine resulting in a dulling to the cloth and gilt stamping on spine. An attractive copy of a very scarce work. Interestingly, a non-authorial presentation on the front free endpaper is dated December 25, 1886. Near Fine .
