First edition thus. Originally published in an American edition in 1847 using the title ADVENTURES OF CAPTAIN BONNEVILLE. 8vo. Cloth, liv [2], 424 pp., editor's foreword, editor's introduction, introductory notice, illustrated, plates, portraits, maps, bibliography, index. This is the first annotated edition of the book. in 1832 Captain Bonneville left Fort Osage, Missouri for the beaver-trapping grounds of the Rocky Mountains. He was leading 110 men and 20 heavily loaded wagons. Three and one half years later, he and his ragged trappers rode back to Missouri and civilization. A review copy with the slip laid-in. A fine bright, and unread copy in a bright dust jacket that is lightly rubbed along the rear spine and fore corners.
