An autographed letter signed by Robert Strahorn and dated June 29, 1972. Letter written to R. L. Knox. "Your letter of 26th at hand and in reply would say to you that Texas are scarcely selling at any price. Good fat lots that have been corn fed will sell at about 4 to 4.50 while those that have been wintered are not bringing over 2 3/4 to 3.25 owing to flesh and quality. If your cattle are fat they perhaps could be sold at about the prices I give you 4 to 4.50 and if they are not strictly fat they will come down to about3.0. Commissions on selling cattle are about 50 cents per head. The land company charges 25 cents per head for yardage. Hay is worth 1.50 per hundred. These are all the charges while they remain here Excepting freight -- Which you will make at the place you Ship If from St. Jo I think you can get your freight for 70$ to Chicago & I think in the course of two weeks you will see a better market here as men will not ship these cattle here and take these prices. Should yo remain in St Jo you will please let me Know and I will keep you posted and Should there come a time that I can ship yours in at a good price I Shall do so at least I will keep you posted so that you may Know how cattle are Selling and then you can use your judgment where to ship or at least what to do. Yours Very Truly, R. Strahorn." A very legible letter written in ink on both sides of the sheet. Fold creases else very good.
