Other works by JOHN JAMES AUDUBON

Publication: J T Bowen, 1846, Philadelphia

Hand-colored lithograph, 21" x 26 1/2," irregularly trimmed. One of the few prints in Audubon's QUADRAPEDS... based on an animal native to Texas. This lithograph print appeared as plate 92 in the large folio book. John Audubon was an American ornithologist, naturalist and painter. While Audubon is best known for his extensive studies documenting all types of American birds in their natural habitats, as illustrated in The Birds of North America, he also developed a series of paintings and prints of quadrupeds. These prints included extensive hand coloring with some of the earliest edition prints published by J.T. Bowen. A minor tear in the far right margin, else near fine, with original color. Matted and suitable for framing.
