Publication: The Southwest Press, 1934, Dallas

First edition. 8vo. Presentation inscription on the front fly leaf from the author "Fort Worth, Texas, April, 1936. 'Mister' I hope you enjoy an hour or so apart with 'Tall Tales From Texas' -- I know a 'Guy' that hails from Montana who wears an 'O-K' brand -- now and forever -- I know a Texas 'Gal' who put it thar! Best wishes, 'The Marshall in Cow Town." Quarter cloth spine and rattlesnake pattern paper over boards, title label pasted on the front cover, xxiv, 100 pp., illustrated. Illustrated by Elizabeth E. Keefer. Foreword by J. Frank Dobie. With text by Dobie, this copy is more scarce than the 'plain vanilla' first edition issued at the same time. Dobie page 61 Life and Literature of The Southwest says "The tales are tall all right and true to cows that never saw a milk bucket." Now sought by Dobie and cattle collectors. Light wear to the spine ends and corners, else a very good, clean copy.
