From the Introduction : "Most of the people you will read about in this book are dead. They weren't famous or rich or widely known. They were a hardy people who lived in the isolated mining camps and way stations of Central Nevada. They came from all over the world. Berlin and Union Canyon were their homes as long as the mines produced. When the mines shut down they moved on to another place and started all over again.

Firmin Bruner was part of that story. At the turn of the century he lived in these camps and grew to manhood. He was 72 years old when I first met him. He and his wife Erma were revisiting his boyhood home. When he looked over the rubble of the once thriving mining town of Berlin, he began to talk about his boyhood and the friends he knew. Now he has written about them. These are true stories about real people and a time in America that is no more and will never be again. I hope you enjoy these stories as much as my wife and I did in hearing them and as Firmin did in writing them."

Some light offsetting to the spine else a near fine, bright copy of a scarce book.
