Later printing. Author's first book. Inked gift inscription on the half title page and the stamp of the Baldpate Inn, Estes Park, Colo. Inscription says "To the B. H. Hendersons / Welcome is always / dripping from the / Seven Keys to Baldpate / Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Mace / August 3, 1947." Mr. and Mrs. Mace were the owners of the Baldpate Inn. located in Estes Park, Colorado. Encyclopedia of Mystery & Detection says, "A writer makes a $5,000.00 bet that he can finish a story in twenty four hours at haunted, deserted Baldpate Inn, which to his confusion, he finds cluttered with eccentric...and criminal... strangers." This story was adapted into a long-running Broadway play in 1913 by George M. Cohan, who also starred in the play. It has been adapted several times for the screen. Fine, bright copy in a bright, colorful dust jacket with wear to the spine ends, corners and extremities. A nice association copy.
