Buffalo Bill's Wild West went bankrupt in July 1913. Buffalo Bill Cody was heavily in debt and had borrowed money from Harry H. Tammen, one of the owners of Sells-Floto. Tammen subsequently brought Cody into their organization. For 1914 and 1915, the attraction was promoted as the "Sells-Floto Circus and Buffalo Bill's Wild West." Buffalo Bill himself appeared with the show. Buffalo Bill found the arrangement increasingly unpleasant and left the Sells-Floto Circus after the 1915 season and joined the Miller Brothers 101 Ranch Wild West in 1916. The piece offers a long tribute to Cody by Rodman Wanamaker of the Wanamaker Expedition. At this moment in time, Cody was split between two worlds: using the Sells-Floto arena to bring 'the red aborigine into closer touch with the general public,' while simultaneously leveraging his fame to champion the massive National American Indian Memorial spearheaded by the Wanamaker Expeditions. Apparently unrecorded as OCLC shows no holdings. Light rubbing and creasing to wrappers along with minor wear to the extremities. Very good.
