Publication: Sur, 1942, Buenos Aires
First edition. Queen's Quorum 96. Paperback original. Inscribed by Adolf Bioy-Casares with this pseudonym, and again years later with his name. Page uniformly browned, else very good in original printed wrappers, lightly rubbed at the extremities. A collection of six short mysteries and selected by Ellery Queen as a Queen's Quorum title. Queen termed this book as "probably" the first detective fiction in Spanish. H. Bustos Domecq is the pseudonym of Jorge Luis Borges and Adolfo Bioy-Casares who collaborated for this selection of short stories. A nice example of a landmark book which so often appears in poor condition due largely to the use of cheap paper and having been widely read. Very scarce and housed in a cloth clamshell case with a leather spine label and titles stamped in gilt. QUEEN'S QUORUM 96.
