This copy inscribed on the front pastedown sheet : "To Cal - (Godshall) / I hope it don't take a / horse like this Scorpion / to keep you on the straight / and narrow path and / close to home - / Scorpion and your / ulcers will keep you good - / even when you're judging / bathing beauties - / Bill James '37." Also stamped at the bottom of front pastedown sheet is the stamp of "Mr. & Mrs. C. H. Godshall, Ihmsen Ranch, Victorville, Cal." Also laid-in is an original Charles Scribners Sons book mark that lists Will James' Books of the Range. Lightly darkened at the front and rear endpapers due to bleed through of binder's glue else a good copy in price-clipped dust jacket with light wear to the spine ends and corners the extremities. It was at Cal Godshall's ranch that Will James died on Sept. 3rd, 1942.
