An interesting discussion about the 1960 film, released by United Artists and titled "The Alamo." The film starred John Wayne as Davy Crockett, Richard Widmark as Jim Bowie, and Laurence Harvey as William B. Travis. Robert A. Harris, has restored and saved a number of classic films and says, "it's a film I saw when I was 14 years old or so, and it's stayed with me. And to me, it's the best representation of Americans fighting for freedom that's out there. There's really nothing greater." In 1961, "The Alamo" became the first film to be presented a Western Heritage Wrangler Award. Fine, bright copy.
