Includes an account of the parade and celebratory dinner given in honor of Pierre Chouteau. The value in this booklet is the information provided on the early history of the Fur Trade, including a lengthy speech by Wilson Primm that provides much interesting and important comments on the early history of the fur trade in Missouri, as well as information on the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers, and the Louisiana Purchase. Other dinner speeches touch on topics devoted to local St. Louis history. The booklet preserves reminiscences of early pioneers and fur traders, discusses the Louisiana Purchase and the city's strategic location on the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers, and captures how residents in 1847 understood and commemorated their own history.
