Pioneer History Of Wise County, From Red Men To Railroads--Twenty Years Of Intrepid History

CATES, CLIFF D. [COMPILED UNDER THE AUSPICES OF THE WISE COUNTY OLD SETTLERS' ASSOCIATION]

Other works by CATES, CLIFF D.

Publication: Privately printed, 1907, Decatur, Texas

First edition. 8vo. Recased with the original cloth laid down, decorated front and rear endpapers, 471 pp., frontispiece, illustrated portraits, plates, and a large section of advertisements. There are several pages that have inked notations and comments that add much to the commentary that is provided. The person making the inked comments is clearly a relative of the Terrell family. There is much on pioneers and early settlers, many stories of Indian depredations, the Civil War, etc.

This is a very scarce book and our first copy in 27 years The covers have been refurbished and the front cover is mottled but quite solid and serviceable. Overall a very good tight copy of a rare Texas local history and cattle book, particularly rare in publisher's cloth.
