Light green cloth, tan endpapers, xvii [2], 250 pp., frontispiece (portrait), Introduction, illustrated from numerous photographs, bibliography, acknowledgements, index, double column. All photographs taken by Evelyn Cameron. This copy from the library of Ramona Angus Bennett (1924-2017), who originally owned the Montana Agate Shop, a Texaco service station, as well as the “Honeymoon Cabins” motel in Terry, MT before and during World War II on the road which led to Yellowstone National Park, and the Custer Battlefields. Ramona's inked name and small stamped address on the front pastedown sheet.

This extraordinary selection of photographs were selected from thousands of glass-plate negatives and original prints discovered 50 years after Cameron’s death. Many of t photographs reveal how Cameron and her neighbors lived in Montana from the 1890’s through the 1920’s. Evelyn Jephson Flower Cameron (1868-1928) emigrated with her husband Ewen in 1889 to launch a polo horse ranch on the Montana prairie, which subsequently folded, and she then became a photographer, working in her dugout darkroom,
developing thousands of startling photographs. Includes one chapter entitled "Life on Eve Ranch," which was basically a horse ranch. Many photographs are taken of cowboys, birds, and individuals.

Former owner's inked name and name stamp on front pastedown sheet, else a near fine copy in a bright dust jacket that is lightly used with light creases and minor wear to the extremities.
