8" x 5" photograph of Pond Creek Ranch located in south central Grant County, Oklahoma, and situated slightly east of the junction of U. S. Highways 60 and 81 (Chisholm Trail Highway).

Since the time of Indian Territory (now present day Oklahoma) and after removal of natives from the area, no family has figured more prominently than the Johnson Family represented by Edward Bryant Johnson. In 1886, E. B. Johnson established his ranch on Pond Creek, three miles from the South Canadian River.

Located in south central Grant County, Pond Creek Ranch is situated slightly east of the junction of U. S. Highways 60 and 82 (Chisholm Trail Highway). About a mile north of present-day Pond Creek was the Pond Creek Stage Station on the Chisholm Trail. In 1889-90, the Chicago, Kansas and Nebraska Railway (later the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railway) constructed a line from southern Kansas to Minco that passed through the future townsite. Good copy.
