First edition thus. Printed in an edition of 200 copies by Edward Eberstadt from the files of the New Harmony Times wherein the journal appeared serially March 16-August 3, 1906. Stiff printed wrappers, 45 pp., foreword, double column. Mintz 33 says "A colorful report written by a journalist, this was first printed serially in the New Harmony Times. Bennett speaks ominously and often, of the illness and death along the trail. He also gives a good account of the suffering encountered by those following the Humboldt, and of the many dead animals, stating that in the first five miles he counted the carcasses of sixty-four oxen and fifty-five horses."
