Publication: Hodder & Stoughton, 1995, London
First edition. This is the true first edition, first printing, with a complete number line from 10 to 1 on the copyright page. Reportedly, le Carre did not like the jacket design and forced a redesign for the second printing and insisted that the complete print of the first printing be shipped for export. A difficult title as the first U.K. edition was exported and not made available for sale in England. Signed by the author on the title page
