Publication: 1894-1895, El Paso
After the notorious Texas gunfighter was released from prison in 1894, he went to El Paso and established himself as an "Attorney At Law". On August 19, 1895, while drinking and gambling in the Acme Saloon, Hardin was shot and killed by gunman and El Paso peace officer, John Selman. His business card is authenticated by 2 letters, both signed by Bob McNellis, one notarized, stating that he received the business card in the late 1960's, with other personal items of Hardin's, from Joe Hardin Clements, son of Amanda Clements Clements, daughter of Joe Clements, a first cousin of John Wesley Hardin. The card is 3" wide x 2.125" high and shows some very slight soiling. The card reads: John W. Hardin Esq. Attorney At Law. Office: 2001/2 El Paso Wells Fargo Bldg. Practice In All Courts. Verso is marbled in maroon, tan, and blue colors. Very Good-Near Fine condition. Both letters have 2 horizontal folds, else Fine. A rare piece of Texas gunfighter history!
