First edition. 8vo. Brown cloth, 20 pp. Bookplate and signature of John M. Carroll on front free fly leaf. Inked inscription by an acquaintance of the author on the front pastedown sheet and comments by others. Pearson reflects on the life of a soldier, West Point, Indians as soldiers, garrison life, etc. O'Keefe 1941 says "Pearson was on the Sioux expeditions in 1874 and 1875 and participated in the Powder River fight in March 1876 and the Battle of the Rosebud in June 1876." Light wear to the spine ends and corners, interior clean and tight, else a very good copy.
