First Edition. Folio. 124, (2) pp. Introduction; List of Illustrations. Photographic illustrations with descriptions of various styles of buildings and architecture; half-page map. The author, along with Sylvanus Marston and Edgar Maybury were partners in the architectural firm, Marston, Van Pelt, & Maybury in Pasadena, California. The firm designed hundreds of custom homes in the Pasadena area; a number of their works are listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. Van Pelt's great interest in the old architecture of Mexico is revealed in his book and in fact, following the design of his Laguna blufftop Spanish Revival-style estate, his plans changed and he moved to Mexico where he worked as an architect for many years.
