First edition. 12mo. Decorated green cloth, gold stamping on front cover and spine, [4], 271 pp., frontispiece, illustrated, plates. A detailed account by a woman who came to New Mexico from Virginia for her health and set up a farming and ranching operation. She includes observations of New Mexican ranches, horsemanship, stock raising, outlaws and lawmen, Billy the Kid, and range days. Herd 1672 says "Scarce." Six Guns 1610 and Dykes' Kid 31 both feel the author was careless with the facts, even for the 1890s, regarding Billy the Kid, John Henry Tunstall, and McSween. Despite this information, it is a fine detailed writing of ranch life from a woman's point of view and is much sought.
