First edition. Fine in dust jacket with light wear to the spine ends and corners. Johnny O'Sullivan works for the Daily News and one night he's on patrol with his police friends and they find the body of millionaire, Edward Abbott in a cheap boarding house. It could be suicide or murder and Johnny goes with murder, but the inquest goes with suicide. So Johnny is out of a job but he still has the photograph and goes with his hunches, which puts him in the middle of more murders. Filmed as NINE LIVES ARE NOT ENOUGH in 1941 by Warner Brothers with Ronald Reagan as Johnny, and also starring Joan Perry, James Gleason, Faye Emerson, and Howard da Silva. The author wrote six mystery novels and three were made into movies. He was born in Minneapolis in 1905 and died in Hollywood in 1954. He also served time in prisons for bad checks and forgery.
