First Edition. Cloth. 277pp. Illustrated by Harold D. Bugbee. Beginning in the late 1870's, Tascosa was the center of activity for part of the Texas Panhandle. The 1880's were the heyday for this historic town. Many noteworthy characters are part of Tascosa's history: Billy the Kid, Pat Garrett, Charles Goodnight, John Chisum, Major George W. Littlefield, and others. The ranches themselves were legendary: the LX, the LS, the LIT, the XIT, the Jinglebob, and others. Significant bump to top edge of rear panel, else a near fine copy. Price-clipped dust jacket shows moderate edgewear and a sunned spine. Signed by McCarty on half-title.
