First the center of the Kiowa, then sacred to the Cheyenne, Mato Paha was eventually part of the heart of the lands of the Oglala Sioux. The sacred medicine arrows were given to the Cheyenne in a cave on Mato Paha. Much on early exploration, frontier military, Custer, and early settlement of the area. A near fine, bright, tight copy.
