Publication: Frontier Press of Texas, 1954, Houston

First edition printed in cloth. 8vo. Originally published in 1884, then reprinted in 1926 by the Frontier Times in wrappers, reprinted again in 1954 by the Frontier Press of Texas in cloth. Gray cloth, titles stamped in black ink on the front cover and spine, 232 pp., illustrations. This exciting account was written by Thompson's lawyer. William Keleher said, "Probably no man, before or since, crowded more excitement into 43 years than did Ben Thompson." Floyd Streeter, mentioning Hickok, Earp, Masterson, Hardin, and Billy the Kid, stated: "While every one of these men was brave beyond question and made an excellent record, Ben Thompson was the most dangerous in deadly combat with a pistol than any other gunman then living and won every battle but the last. This record made him the most feared fighter of his day." A fine copy.
