Reprint of the 1846 original. Sewn Self-Wrappers. 115pp. On August 18, 1846, Brigadier S. W. Kearny led a bloodless conquest of New Mexico, putting Santa Fe and the Department of New Mexico under military control of the United States. Kearny was promoted to Brigadier General and ordered a Code of Laws to be prepared for the guidance of the citizens. Two noted criminal lawyers were chosen to write the code--Colonel Alexander W. Doniphan and Willard P. Hall, both attorneys from Missouri, and Captain David Waldo translated into Spanish. This work is a facsimile copy of of the original copy presented to Colonel Doniphan by O. P. Hovey, the printer. An important reprint of the very rare original 1846 printing of 100 copies. Near fine condition in very good cardboard slipcase. Signed by Nolie Mumey.
