Publication: Hodder and Stoughton Limited, 1940, London

First edition. Former owner's neat address stamp at top of front fly leaf, light offsetting to front and rear endpapers else a very good, bright copy in dust jacket with some minor internal professional restoration at the spine ends. Returning to his hotel room after a late-night flirtation with a cabaret dancer, Graham is surprised by an intruder with a gun. What follows is a nightmare for the English armaments engineer as he makes his way home aboard an Italian freighter. Among the passengers are a couple of Nazi assassins intent on preventing his returning to England with plans for a Turkish defense system, the seductive cabaret dancer and her manager husband, and a number of surprising allies. This is a scarce book in the British edition. It's scarcity is attributed to copies being stored in the Hodder and Stoughton warehouse which was completely destroyed by German bombs during World War II. An attractive copy of a desirable book. Housed in a clamshell case with the dust jacket design imprinted on the cover.
