Howes L IO7 says "First printing of the day-by-day journal of the first white man, after Verendrye, to visit the Big Horn country and the Crow Indians; first authoritative account of that tribe." Eberstadt 111: 657 says "A valuable source which easily ranks among the classics of the fur trade." Streeter III: 1832 says "... a valuable commentary upon the Lewis and Clark narrative as far as the Flatheads and Snakes are concerned."
