First edition. 8vo. Inscribed by J. A. Scorup on the front free fly leaf and dated January 1, 1945. Maroon cloth, gold stamping on front cover and spine, viii [4], 161 pp. frontispiece, (portrait of J. A. Scorup.), preface, 22 plates (lacks The Mother Emma Bayles Scorup plate, although there is no evidence it was either included or removed). We have never seen a copy with the missing plate included. Not in Adams' Herd. Written by J. A. Scorup's brother, it tells of early Utah ranching days, Mormon pioneers, conflicts with non-Mormons, etc. Scorup built the largest cattle ranch in Utah. At age 18 he started riding for Claud Sanford, his pay being one-third of the calf crop from 150 head he was herding in White Canyon. Not located in any of the usual bibliographies. Fine, bright, tight copy. Very scarce.
