Other works by EDWIN THOMPSON DENIG

Publication: Government Printing office, 1930, Washington

First separate printing. Original wrappers replaced with unprinted wrappers, pages 375-628 plus 629-654 of index, illustrations, 19 plates. Bibliography. Preface by editor, J.N.B. Hewitt. Extract from the Forty-sixth Annual Report of the Bureau of American Ethnology. Despite the title, this is a detailed, first hand study of the Assiniboin, and not a general study of various tribes. Having spent over 21 years "among the prairie tribes," Denig wrote this study/report in response to Henry R. Schoolcraft's circular of "Inquiries, Respecting the History, Present Condition, and Future Prospects of the Indian Tribes of the United States" in 1851. Tiny corner loss to top of last six pages not affecting text, else internally fine and clean.
