Publication: The Jesse Beery Co, 1909, Pleasant Hill
First edition. 6 1/2" x 4 3/8" in tan pictorial wrappers showing a silhouette of a horse's head in each corner. 15 pp., illustrations. Professor Jesse Beery was an American horse trainer who claimed that he could train any horse ... horses that ran away, horses that pulled too hard, horses that were spooked too easily and horses that refused to be shod. This pamphlet describes 4 different head shape types and also a combination of various types or head shapes, what type of disposition each horse has based on his head shape, and how to treat and train that type of horse. For example, a horse with a lean, uniform head with a kind eye and ears that are well formed is a horse that can easily be trained. It is not easily frightened, is teachable, kind and obedient. This type of horse should be treated with the double safety ropes. One 3 1/4" closed tear to edge of first page along with light soiling to wrappers. A very enlightening little booklet.
