Publication: Printed for White Enamel Refrigerator Company, 1916, St Paul
First edition. 8vo. Original white cloth, titles stamped in gilt on the front cover, 126 pp., introduction, illustrated with four, two-sided plates, index. “In offering this book of Housewives Favorite Recipes to the public, our motive is to lessen the burden of the housewife by furnishing her with recipes of nutritious and palatable dishes that can be prepared in advance, placed away in the refrigerator and kept against the time that she may desire to serve.” Includes recipes for beverages, cakes, frozen dishes, invalid cookery, relishes, salads, and more, all contributed by “housewives from all parts of the United States,” many of whom are credited. Much information is provided advising of the proper refrigeration of food, how to test a refrigerator, how to operate a refrigerator, and how to clean a refrigerator --- information that most of us take for granted these days. Period ink stamp that reads Sold By Ladies Congregational Church, McPherson, Kansas appears at the bottom of the front free fly leaf, in the center of the title page, and at the top of the Index page, a bit of light soiling to a few interior pages, white cloth lightly soiled, else a very good copy. OCLC locates only three copies (Harvard, Library of Congress, National Agricultural Library). Uncommon.
