First edition. 8vo. Signed and dated by Ike Moore and with his bookplate on the inside front cover. Printed wrappers, [4], 166 pp., introduction. Jack County, Texas was named after William H. and Patrick C. Jack, settlers in Texas, who fought at the Battle of San Jacinto. Much on Indian depredations, Texas Rangers, biographical sketches of prominent and early residents, outlaws and lawmen, ranching, etc. Six Guns 1035 says, "Scarce." "This little book, which contains some material on Sam Bass and his gang, is quite rare because most of the edition was burned. It tells of Joe Horner's battle with Negro soldiers before he left Texas and assumed the name Frank Canton." Herd 1069 says, "This little book is quite scarce because most of the edition was burned. It contains some material on certain notable Texas cattlemen." A very good copy in nice condition.
