First edition. 8vo. Fine, bright copy, titles stamped in gilt on the front cover and spine, 132 pp., preface, photo-illustrated plates. A nice copy of a surprisingly scarce work on cattle ranching late 1800s - early 1900s. Biography of William H. Moffat, Nevada cattleman, who started in the late 1800's as a beef buyer and ended in 1963 as one of the most respected cattlemen on the West Coast and member of the Cowboy Hall of Fame. "...famous cattle baron and innovator, this biography is chiefly valuable for its wealth of information on large-spread ranch life of the 19th century, authentically chronicling early Nevada livestock raising." - Paher 1753. The author worked for Moffat for 20 years and thus speaks with authority about those times. A fine, bright copy in near fine dustjacket gently sunned on the spine, minor wear to the spine ends and corners, with two closed tears and small chips to the top edge of the rear cover panel.
