Publication: Privately printed, 1886, Devils Lake, North Dakota
First edition. 4to. One 8 1/2" x 11" tan one-sheet printed on both sides. The land office for the Devils Lake land district in North Dakota is at the town of Devils Lake, on the Devils Lake extension of the St. Paul, Minneapolis and Manitoba Railway. The front page details the unoccupied Government Land available for sale for the benefit of intending settlers when selecting their location. Information is provided on the land available, the number of quarter sections vacant, and remarks as to the condition of the selected land.
The back side has "How To Get A Free Farm In North Dakota," as the header. It advises the purchaser how to file on 160 acres and the steps taken to eventually earn full title for the selection. Applicants are encouraged not to obtain the service of "land agents" or "locaters" as it is not necessary to do so. "The methods of procedure, both in finding unentered lands and in "filing" on them is very simple, and with a copy of the land laws and the plats to be had at the land office, the settler can easily make his own selections."
Extremities uniformly tanned, sheet folded and with tiny closed tear at the fold creases.
