Highsmith’s first published work
Highsmith, Patricia
Girl Campers; in Woman's World
Mount Morris: Woman's World Publishing, 1935. July 1935 issue, wrappers, stapled. Patricia Highsmith's first appearance in print. An address stamp in the upper left corner, some soiling, stains, rubbing and a light vertical crease through the middle, else very good.
A series of doodles and letters written by Highsmith at 12 years old to her parents while attending summer camp. She details the day of arrival, being a little home sick a few days later, a desire to go skinny dipping, of new friends and her counselors. The well written narratives show the promise of talent that was actualized a couple of decades later.
