MARVIN H ALBERT

Other works by MARVIN H ALBERT

Publication: 1953-1973,

Five paperback originals ... each one inscribed by this talented and prolific author of hardboiled crime novels, westerns, adventure novels, and novelizations of other people's screenplays-representing all of those genres and each of Albert's most frequent pseudonyms: Albert Conroy, Nick Quarry, Anthony Rome, Ian MacAlister, and Marvin Albert. The 5 titles include: 1. ALBERT, MARVIN H. LIE DOWN WITH LIONS. Greenwich: Fawcett Publications, Inc., [1955]. First edition. PBO. Gold Medal 519. Inscribed on the title page: "To Albert Newgarden from Marvin H. Albert, This remains one of my favorites, too. Written at night, in the kitchen of my Queen's apartment, after a day of writing at my job on Look Magazine. Sheer escapism for me!" Lightly rubbed on the spine panel and front top corner, with a faint fold crease to the top and bottom corners of the rear cover, else a near fine copy. 2. [MARVIN H. ALBERT.]. ALBERT, MARVIN. STRANGE BEDFELLOWS. New York: Pyramid Books, [1965]. First edition. PBO. Pyramid Books R-1132. Inscribed on the title page: "Poor Rock Hudson -- every girl's dream-guy, but who never dreamed of them! Marvin H. Albert." A novel by Marvin Albert based on the screenplay by Norman Panama, Melvin Frank and Michael Pertwee. Movie of the same name starred Rock Hudson, Gina Lollobrigida, and Gig Young. Fine copy. 3. [MARVIN H. ALBERT.]. CONROY, ALBERT. THE CHISELERS. Greenwich: Fawcett Publications, Inc., [1953]. First edition. Pseudonym of Marvin H. Albert. PBO. Gold Medal 289. Inscribed on the title page: "One of my very early books, not bad considering I was still very young & learning. Marvin H. Albert (Albert Conroy)." Fine copy. 4. [MARVIN H. ALBERT.]. MACALISTER, IAN. DRISCOLL'S DIAMONDS. Greenwich: Fawcett Publications, Inc., [1973]. First edition. Pseudonym of Marvin H. Albert. PBO. Gold Medal M2889. Inscribed on the title page: "I got a kick out of writing old-fashioned adventure novels like this -- because I was a fan of the old 'Adventure' pulp magazine. Marvin H. Albert (Ian MacAlister)." Fine copy. 5. [MARVIN H. ALBERT]. QUARRY, NICK. SOME DIE HARD. Greenwich: Fawcett Publications, Inc., [1961]. First edition. Pseudonym of Marvin H. Albert. PBO. Gold Medal s1150. Inscribed on the title page: "Another in this series of old-fashioned Private Eye books --- fun to write. Marvin H. Albert (Nick Quarry)." Fine copy. Until his death from 'too many cigarettes' as he described it, Albert lived with his second wife, the artist Xenia Klar, in a mountaintop villa near the coast of France, and returned to the US infrequently, to work on a movie-related assignment in Hollywood (with a stopoff, usually, at one of the Western casinos). As a result, he had little contact with readers or collectors of his work, and signed copies of even his later hardcover books are rare. In addition, our unique collection includes an interestingly inscribed studio copy of his 1966 adaptation, co-written with Sidney Boehm, of his own western novel (as Al Conroy) The Man in Black, which became the Dean Martin/George Peppard movie Rough Night in Jericho. Collection also includes 20th Century Fox Pressbook for Frank Sinatra as Tony Rome as well as an Advertising Publicity Promotion for Rough Night in Jericho starring Dean Martin, George Peppard and Jean Simmons. 22" x 14" Poster for Frank Sinatra as Tony Rome and also starring Jill St. John, Richard Conte, Gena Rowlands, Simon Oakland, etc.; Screenplay by Richard Breen. Finally, a large color poster advertising Dean Martin, George Peppard and Jean Simmons in Rough Night in Jericho. All items in fine condition.
