Disbound report protected in Brown Cloth. 36th Congress, 2nd Session. Ex. Doc. No. 46. House of Representatives. 16pp. "A report of the Commissioner of Indian Affairs relative to the Indian depredations committed in the State of Oregon and Territory of Washington, and the massacre of emigrants by the Snake River Indians." Presents the initial reports of the massacre of the majority of an emigrant train by Snake River Indians, who stripped the survivors of everything, and left them to die...the few survivors ultimately resorting to cannibalism for survival. Those tragic events are sadly told by a survivor, Emeline Fuller, in her exceedingly rare account, Left By The Indians.
