"Cowboy and drifter Frank Clifford lived a lot of lives and raised a lot of hell in the first quarter of his life. He spent the rest of it keeping a lid on what those lives were and where that hell-raising had occurred." He tells of crossing the paths of many of the 1870s and 1880s notorious characters, most notably Clay Allison and Billy the Kid. He also paints a picture of how ranchers and ordinary folk lived, worked and stayed alive during those years. Bob McCubbin says "One hundred and thirty years after the death of Billy the Kid, it is rare for an account to appear that is fresh and authentic. Yet this book is even more than that. Salvaged from a lost manuscript, DEEP TRAILS IN THE OLD WEST is a genuine tale told by a down-to-earth wandering cowboy of the Old West." As new, unread copy in dust jacket.
