First edition. Amusing presentation inscription by the author on the verso of the front fly leaf. Small inked number to top edge of front fly leaf, else a fine copy in dust jacket with light professional restoration to spine ends and corners. The dust jacket has been designed by Clayton Rawson, the noted author of the Great Merlini mysteries. A very scarce mystery by Goldman, an early pulp writer, who opens this story with Rufus Reed's assignment to cover the electrocution of Dan Hillyard, a bank robber and murderer of a policeman. Along the way a noted criminal lawyer plays his first and last game of "Solitaire" with a mysterious deck of cards.
