Brief history and pictures of early Central Mine located in Keweenaw County, Michigan. This was the first copper mine opened on Lake Superior which produced and sold enough copper the first year of mining to more than pay all the expenses of the new company and leave some surplus. The mine was shut down for good in 1905. Fine copy.
