Publication: Forest City & Gettysburg RR Co, nd Ca 1904, NP
Printed wrappers, [3]-31[1]p., plates, map, tables. 23.2 cm. Last page advertisements, extremely fine copy of one of those rare promotional booklets issued by the various railroads in the early days. Ownership signature of Dorothy and Clint Josey. A very well-assembled promotional, extolling the merits of the region for cattle-raising, outlining the improvements the railroad was undertaking (a water works), and promising more (a line from Forest City to Deadwood in the Black Hills). The plates show such things as "branding scene on Timm's Ranch, Potter County, South Dakota." One plate, however, seems a trifle out of place in such a work: "A number of Indians in a Council of War after the shooting of one of their number by a white man....near Forest City." Rare.
